Get started

Getting started

Create your account, connect your first cloud and run your first scan.

About 10 minutes

This guide takes you from a new account to your first scan result. You create the account, connect one cloud account and run a scan that shows what you are paying for things you do not use.

Before you start

  • A work email address. You will get a 6-digit code there to confirm it.
  • Access to the cloud account you want to connect, with permission to create an IAM role. For AWS, the Connect AWS guide lists exactly what is needed.

Create your account

  1. Sign up

Go to zaysa.io/sign-up. Enter your full name, your work email and a password, tick the box to accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and click Create account (1).

    Note

You can also use Continue with Google or Continue with GitHub on the same page. Those buttons become active once the Terms box is ticked.
  2. Confirm your email

Zaysa sends a 6-digit code to the address you entered. Type it in and click Verify & continue. If it does not arrive within a minute, check your spam folder or click Resend code.

  3. Tell us about your team

The first time you sign in, Zaysa asks four short questions. Enter your company name, pick your role and company size, and optionally the clouds you use. Click Continue (1). The company name becomes the name of your organisation, which you see at the top of the left sidebar.

Connect your first cloud

After the questions, the Welcome to Zaysa window lists three things to do. Pick the cloud you use under Connect a cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure or DigitalOcean. The connection window opens straight away with that cloud selected.

For AWS, follow Connect AWS. It takes about five minutes and creates no access keys. If you are not ready yet, click Skip for now. The same checklist stays on the overview page under Getting started.

What the Free plan includes

On Free, the welcome window lists dashboards, cloud cost history and waste detection. Pro and Business add more, and you can try them free for 14 days from the same window.

Run your first scan

A scan reads the resources in the account and finds the ones you are paying for without using. Open FinOps → Optimization in the left sidebar. Your connected account is listed under Connected cloud accounts. Click Run scan next to it.

  1. Choose what to scan

All services are selected. Keep them all for the first scan and click Next (1).

  2. Choose the period and regions

The analysis period is the last 14 days and every region is included. Optionally, add tags whose resources should be left out of waste detection. Click Next.

  3. Review and launch

Check the summary and click Launch scan (1). The summary also shows how long the scan should take.

  4. Watch it run

Zaysa goes through the services one by one and shows its progress and the time elapsed.

Read the result

When the scan finishes, the report appears under Scan reports with the monthly amount of waste it found.

  • On the Free plan you see the total. The list of resources behind it, with what each one costs, is on Pro and Business.
  • The report covers the analysis period you chose, the last 14 days by default.
